Ukraine has carried out a coordinated strike on key facilities at the Russian-controlled Mariupol Sea Commercial Port, a site Kyiv claims has been used to support Russian military logistics and export operations.
The operation was conducted jointly with the National Guard’s 1st Corps “Azov,” the Security Service of Ukraine, and the Special Operations Center “A”, The Caspian Post reports via Kyiv Post.
Ukrainian military officials described the port as an important logistics hub used by Russian forces for supplying troops and equipment. Kyiv also alleges that the facility has been involved in the transport of Ukrainian grain, coal, and metal products from occupied territories into Russia.
The latest attack follows earlier strikes on the port area. Ukraine’s General Staff reported that a June 5 operation caused significant damage to fuel storage infrastructure, with updated assessments indicating that eight fuel tanks were destroyed and nine others were damaged.
Mariupol, a key port city on the Sea of Azov, has remained under Russian control since 2022 and continues to play a strategic role in transportation and supply networks across occupied territories.
