The Azerbaijani men's chess team secured second place at the 2025 European Team Chess Championship held in Batumi, Georgia, after a decisive final-round loss to Serbia.
In Round 9, Eltaj Safarli delivered Azerbaijan's only victory, while the remaining three games ended in draws, The Caspian Post reports.
The national team concluded the tournament with a total of 13 match points.
Ukraine emerged as the tournament champion, while Serbia took the third spot on the podium.
