Baku Hosts Opening Ceremony of Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup

The opening ceremony of the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup, internationally known as the "AGF Trophy," took place in Baku, marking the beginning of three exciting days of elite competition.

Held at the National Gymnastics Arena, the event welcomed athletes from around the world, The Caspian Post reports citing local media.

Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, Fatima Shafizada, addressed the audience, extending a warm welcome to all participants and wishing them success in the tournament.

"This is the ninth time our country has had the honor of hosting these prestigious competitions," Shafizada said. "Each year, the number of participating nations continues to grow. The success of these annual events and the overall development of gymnastics in Azerbaijan are a direct result of the care and dedication shown by the First Vice-President of Azerbaijan and President of the Gymnastics Federation, Mehriban Aliyeva."

The tournament, which officially kicked off today, will feature gymnasts competing in individual and all-around disciplines. As tradition holds, the gymnast and group team with the highest performance scores will be awarded the coveted AGF Trophy.
