Iran’s Ambassador to Türkiye, Mohammad-Hassan Habibollahzadeh, announced that visas have been issued for the players and staff of Iran’s national football team to participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking on Wednesday, Habibollahzadeh said the visa process was completed without requiring players to appear at the Mexican embassy in person and that they were exempted from fingerprinting procedures, The Caspian Post reports, citing Al Jazeera.
He noted that the streamlined process was important in preventing any disruption to the team’s preparations, enabling players and staff to remain focused on their upcoming friendly match against Mali.
The 2026 World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, marking the fourth time the tournament will be held in North America. All of Iran’s group-stage matches are set to take place in the United States.
