The Kazakhstan Football Federation on Friday elected a new president in Astana.
Of all the nominees for the post, Marat Omarov received the majority of votes - 34, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kazakh media.
Marat Omarov was born on September 20, 1988. He graduated from the British University of York's under the Bolashak program in 2010 and from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2011, earning a Master's degree in Social Sciences.
He served as an advisor to the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2012-2014, Deputy Director of the Department of Tariff and Institutional Policy Formation of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2014-2016), Managing Director of Kazakhtelecom JSC (2016-2017), Managing Director of the National Agency for Technological Development JSC, Chairman of the Board of QazTech Ventures JSC.
He was appointed Chairman of the Agency for Protection and Development of Competition on August 16, 2022. He was subsequently reappointed to the same position on November 28, 2022.
Earlier, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev congratulated Aliya Yussupova on reelection as the President of the Gymnastics Federation of Kazakhstan.
