Real Madrid Eye Loan for Uzbekistan Defender Khusanov

Speculation is growing over a potential move by Real Madrid for Uzbekistan international Abdukodir Khusanov.

The La Liga club is exploring the possibility of signing the 21-year-old Manchester City defender on loan, The Caspian Post reports, citing Spanish outlet Fichajes.

According to Fichajes, Real Madrid has begun discussions to determine whether a mid-season loan deal could be arranged, as the club seeks short-term defensive cover amid injuries and a congested fixture schedule. Khusanov is reportedly seen as a cost-effective option who could strengthen the squad without requiring a significant transfer outlay.

The 21-year-old’s physical presence, aerial ability, and versatility across defensive roles make him an attractive candidate for Madrid. The club is looking for a player capable of making an immediate impact while preserving flexibility for future signings.

Khusanov joined Manchester City in the summer from French club RC Lens in a deal reportedly worth €40 million. However, his playing time under Pep Guardiola has been limited. Fichajes notes that City recognizes the importance of regular minutes for his development and considers a loan move to Real Madrid, one of Europe’s top clubs, a beneficial option for both the player and the club.

In addition to sporting considerations, Real Madrid is reportedly aware of Khusanov’s potential market appeal in Asia, though performance remains the primary factor in any decision. There is currently no indication that a mandatory purchase clause would be included in the loan.

Manchester City is said to be open to negotiating a loan provided Khusanov receives consistent playing time. Talks are still preliminary, with final arrangements expected to depend on loan terms, salary agreements, and City’s broader squad management strategy.
