Belarus’ Food Exports to Tajikistan Surge by 62% in 2024

Last year, Belarus boosted its exports of food products and agricultural raw materials to Tajikistan by 61.8%. This was highlighted during a meeting between Belarus’ Agriculture and Food Minister Yuri Gorlov and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Tajikistan to Belarus, Bakhtovar Safarzoda.

The meeting discussed the development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, especially in the agricultural sector, The Caspian Post reports citing BelTA.

According to the Agriculture and Food Ministry, Tajikistan is an important trading partner of Belarus in the Central Asian region. Cooperation between the countries in the agricultural sector is based on an agreement between agricultural ministries. Belarus exports sugar, milk powder, chilled beef, canned meat, cattle, eggs and meat and bone meal to Tajikistan. Belarus’ major imports are dried fruits, cotton yarn, fabrics and fibers from Tajikistan. In 2024, the trade in food and agricultural raw materials between the countries increased by 50.7% over 2023. Belarus’ export surged by 61.8%.

“We highly appreciate the progress in the development of trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Tajikistan. Last year, we reached a record high bilateral trade: Belarus became one of the top ten major trading partners of Tajikistan,” Yuri Gorlov said.

In turn, Ambassador Bakhtovar Safarzoda noted that Belarus and Tajikistan actively cooperate in the field of animal husbandry, veterinary medicine and crop production. “The successes demonstrate a reliable partnership and growing cooperation ties. We hope that the results we have achieved will only multiply. At the diplomatic level, we will do our best to develop relations,” the Ambassador emphasized.

Yuri Gorlov invited the minister of agriculture of Tajikistan to attend the Belagro international exhibition which will be held at Minsk International Exhibition Center from 3 to 7 June. The agricultural ministry has no doubt that this will be another step towards strengthening partnership relations between the two countries.
