Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Yuri Gorlov met with members of Tajikistan’s business community on 2 June to discuss collaboration in crop production and veterinary science.
Tajikistan’s delegation is visiting Minsk to take part in the upcoming international specialized exhibition Belagro 2025, set to open on 3 June, the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry, The Caspian Post reports citing BelTA.
The parties focused on expanding trade and economic cooperation in the agro-industrial sector. Yuri Gorlov emphasized the importance of further diversifying exports of goods and services and deepening bilateral cooperation.
In 2024, trade in food and agricultural raw materials between Belarus and Tajikistan surged by 50.7% compared to 2023. Belarusian exports skyrocketed by 61.8% in 2024 and soared by 48.2% in January-March 2025. Currently, Belarus is mainly exporting meat and meat products, sugar, dairy products, and eggs. Dried fruits form the bulk of imports from Tajikistan.
Together with the Embassy of Belarus in Tajikistan, the Agriculture and Food Ministry is actively working to expand the range of supplied goods. This year, significant contracts have been signed for the delivery of canned fish and chilled beef.
According to the ministry, during the meeting, Tajikistan expressed interest in increasing agricultural imports from Belarus, including poultry meat, and developing the import of cattle. Special attention was paid to the development of cooperation in crop production and veterinary science, which already serves as a clear indicator of deepening economic ties between the two countries.
