Kazakhstan has delivered 5,000 tons of fuel oil to Tajikistan as part of a humanitarian aid package valued at approximately $1.65 million.
The official handover ceremony was held in Dushanbe, attended by representatives from both countries, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.
During the ceremony, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Tajikistan, Valikhan Turekhanov, formally presented the fuel delivery certificate to the leadership of Tajikistan’s Agency for State Material Reserves. Ambassador Turekhanov emphasized that this aid highlights the strong and enduring strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan. The donation, worth 893.7 million Kazakhstani tenge, was facilitated through Kazakhstan’s international development agency, KazAID.
“The fuel support will strengthen Tajikistan’s energy security and exemplifies the spirit of neighborly cooperation and mutual assistance that defines our bilateral relations,” said Ambassador Turekhanov.
Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the fuel provision was carried out under the directive of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, aiming to support the stable functioning of Tajikistan’s energy infrastructure.
Over the past five years, Kazakhstan has provided Tajikistan with more than $21 million in humanitarian aid, bringing the total assistance since the start of their bilateral cooperation to over $44 million.
The two Central Asian nations continue to deepen their collaboration across various sectors, particularly in energy, with numerous joint projects and agreements strengthening their strategic alliance.
