Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has conducted a working visit to the Fayzobod district, where he inaugurated several major infrastructure projects and reviewed the region’s socio-economic progress.
The visit began with the official opening of the newly constructed State Flag Square, which features a 55-meter-high flagpole flying a 14 by 7-meter national flag, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.
The square also includes a 7-meter-tall statue of Ismoili Somoni, founder of the Tajik state, serving as a powerful symbol of national pride and historical legacy.
Strengthening Political and Educational Infrastructure
President Rahmon also inaugurated the new headquarters of the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan (PDPT) in Fayzobod, along with the district’s newly constructed education department building. The modern facility houses 15 office rooms and a 100-seat conference hall, and its construction created 100 temporary jobs for local residents.
Ambitious Urban Development: Vashgird Settlement
During the visit, the President was presented with the master plan for the new Vashgird settlement, a large-scale urban development project spanning 163 hectares and designed to house up to 90,000 people. The settlement will feature multi-story residential buildings, schools, kindergartens, and administrative offices, with construction planned in two phases. The project aims to blend traditional Tajik architectural styles with modern, high-quality materials.
As part of this development initiative, President Rahmon also laid the foundation stones for a new school with a capacity for 1,280 students and a kindergarten for 240 children in the village of Sheramon, signaling continued investment in the region’s educational infrastructure.
Expanding Access to Healthcare
In a boost to local healthcare services, President Rahmon remotely inaugurated a new health center in the village of Safedkhok. Spanning 760 square meters, the facility is equipped with modern diagnostic and emergency equipment and will employ 12 medical staff from the local area.
Additionally, a state-of-the-art Medical-Diagnostic Center was officially opened in Fayzobod’s administrative center. With a capacity of 214 beds, the center provides a full range of services-including diagnostics, emergency care, surgery, maternity care, and intensive care-and currently employs 30 specialists, most of whom are local women.
Commitment to Regional Development
President Rahmon commended the quality and scale of the completed projects, emphasizing their critical role in improving quality of life, creating jobs, and promoting sustainable social and economic development in the district.
