The Tajik government has reportedly provided housing to Niloufar Safoyeva, mother of 10-year-old Qobiljon Aliyev, who was tragically killed in a xenophobic school attack in Moscow region.
Relatives confirmed that the house was provided “on behalf of the country’s government,” though details on the responsible authority remain unclear, The Caspian Post reports via Tajik media.
Several high-ranking officials reportedly visited Qobiljon’s family to offer condolences. Relatives also announced that the family no longer requires financial assistance, closing a bank account opened in Qobiljon’s mother’s name and requesting no further donations. The home, from which Qobiljon’s body was taken for burial, remains open to visitors from across Tajikistan paying their respects.
Qobiljon was fatally stabbed at his school on December 16 by a 15-year-old neo-Nazi, identified as Timofey K. Reports indicate that Timofey questioned children and a teacher about their nationality, recording the exchange and later posting it on Telegram. He attacked a security guard with pepper spray before chasing and killing Qobiljon.
The assailant wore gear displaying slogans linked to far-right attacks, including references to Anders Breivik and other school assaults worldwide. Before the attack, he circulated a manifesto targeting Muslims, Jews, and left-wing groups, citing the “Great Replacement” conspiracy theory.
Russian authorities have opened criminal proceedings under murder and attempted murder charges, but have not officially classified the killing as racially motivated. Tajikistan’s government has called for an “immediate, objective, and impartial investigation,” labeling the act a crime driven by national hatred.
This tragic event is part of a broader pattern: over the past 22 years, at least six Tajik children in Russia have been victims of violent attacks linked to racism.
