Tajikistan Eyes Digital Leap with Starlink’s Satellite Internet Technology

Officials from the Agency for Innovation and Digital Technologies under the President of Tajikistan have met with representatives from Starlink, the satellite internet service operated by SpaceX, to explore opportunities for accelerating the country’s digital transformation and extending high-speed internet access across all regions, including remote and hard-to-reach areas.

During the meeting, the Agency’s leadership outlined its mission and priorities, which include formulating national digital policies, deploying innovative technologies, improving IT infrastructure, and ensuring digital inclusivity nationwide, The Caspian Post reports, citing Tajik media.

Key topics of discussion focused on expanding satellite internet coverage and enhancing connectivity in underserved parts of Tajikistan with limited telecommunications infrastructure. The Starlink delegation presented its flagship initiatives such as digital platforms, mobile applications, and cybersecurity projects.

The visitors also reviewed the work of the Public Joint Stock Company "Certification Centers, State Services, and Digital Program Development," the Agency’s operational hub for digital solutions.

Both parties expressed strong commitment to deepen collaboration and launch joint projects that will support Tajikistan’s digital advancement.

Starlink currently operates around 7,800 satellites, aiming to increase this number to 42,000 to achieve global coverage. The network already serves over 6 million users worldwide, providing high-speed internet access in even the most isolated locations.
