Tajikistan's tourism industry continues to gain momentum, with the country welcoming 889,400 foreign tourists during the first half of 2026-a 16.7% increase compared with the same period last year.
Preliminary data from the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan show that 1.063 million foreign nationals entered the country between January and June, The Caspian Post reports via Khovar.
Of those arrivals, 806,900 visitors came from Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, while 82,500 travelers arrived from other parts of the world.
The steady rise in visitor numbers reflects the country's ongoing efforts to expand its tourism sector under the Tourism Development Strategy through 2030, which focuses on improving infrastructure, diversifying travel experiences, and attracting more international visitors.
As of mid-2026, Tajikistan's tourism network included 216 hotels, 53 hostels and motels, 57 sanatoriums, four children's resorts, six medical and wellness centers, eight holiday homes, and five tourist bases.
The country's tourism industry is also supported by 191 registered travel companies, with the largest concentration in Dushanbe, followed by the Sughd region, the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, Khatlon region, and districts under the central government.
