Tajikistan Targets Sustained Industrial Growth

Tajikistan commissioned around 400 new industrial enterprises in 2025, boosting industrial output by 22% and increasing total production to TJS 66bn ($7.1bn) by the end of the year, according to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies.

Over the past seven years, more than 2,600 industrial facilities have been launched across the country, creating over 87,000 jobs, The Caspian Post reports, citing foreign media.

The Ministry of Industry and New Technologies reported that industrial production has expanded 2.5 times in recent years, reflecting the impact of the government’s accelerated industrialization policy and the growing diversification of manufacturing activities.

President Emomali Rahmon, speaking at a joint session of both chambers of parliament on December 16, 2025, said the strategy has significantly strengthened Tajikistan’s mineral resource sector. Output in mining and minerals rose 3.4 times, increasing from TJS 7.7bn ($830mn) in 2020 to TJS 27bn ($2.9bn) in 2025, while the range of manufactured products expanded from three to 17 items.

The president also pointed to long-term progress in extractive industries, noting that compared with 1991, gold production has increased sevenfold, silver output sixfold, and lead powder production ninefold. Rahmon set a goal of sustaining annual industrial growth of at least 25% over the next five years.

To sustain momentum, the government plans to submit a draft Accelerated Industrialization Program for 2026-2030 by the end of the first quarter of this year. A separate program focused on the development and processing of non-ferrous, rare, and precious metals, as well as other strategic raw materials, is also expected to be adopted to boost export potential and improve resource efficiency.

The government has been instructed to attract domestic and foreign investment into enterprises specializing in deep processing of local raw materials, including minerals, agricultural products, and medicinal herbs.

Industrial growth in 2025 followed strong momentum in the previous year. In the first nine months of 2024, Tajikistan’s industrial output reached TJS 36bn ($3.9bn), up 15.3% year on year, with the mining sector playing a central role.

Earlier reports also noted that Tajikistan has been expanding industrial cooperation with external partners. In 2025, Tajikistan and Belarus signed 10 agreements aimed at strengthening industrial collaboration, including joint ventures in food production, livestock supplies, and manufacturing, supporting the country’s broader industrialization drive.
