Tajikistan plans to launch two solar power plants totaling 500 MW by the end of 2026, marking the largest renewable energy project in the country’s history.
The $250 million investment agreement, signed between the government and local company Ayon Energy, covers a 250 MW plant in Asht district, Sughd region, and another 250 MW station in Jayhun district, Khatlon region, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.
The project aims to strengthen energy security, reduce seasonal electricity shortages-especially in winter-and support the country’s shift toward renewable energy. Construction and commissioning are scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.
