On June 22, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held an expanded meeting with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
President Berdimuhamedov arrived in Azerbaijan for an official state visit, marking another step in the growing partnership between the two Caspian nations, The Caspian Post reports via Azertac.
A ceremonial welcome was held at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, where the national flags of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan were displayed and an honor guard was assembled to greet the distinguished guest.
President Berdimuhamedov was welcomed by Azerbaijan’s First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov, Deputy Foreign Minister Samir Sharifov, and other senior government officials.
The visit is expected to focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation across key sectors, including energy, trade, transport, and regional connectivity, as Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan continue to deepen their strategic ties.
