Belarus, Turkmenistan Boost Ties in Agriculture, Tourism

Belarus and Turkmenistan are moving to deepen bilateral cooperation across agriculture, culture, and tourism following high-level talks held in Ashgabat.

Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Belarus Stanislav Chepurnoy met with senior Turkmen government officials to discuss a range of joint initiatives, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.

During talks with Deputy Prime Minister for Agriculture Tangryguly Atahalliyev, the focus was on strengthening agricultural ties, including the potential participation of a Turkmen delegation in the Belarusian Agro-Industrial Week and the 36th International Specialized Exhibition BELAGRO-2026.

Both sides also confirmed their interest in expanding cooperation between specialized agricultural research institutions, particularly in veterinary science, seed production, and livestock farming-areas seen as key to boosting food security and innovation.

Cultural and tourism cooperation was another priority. In a separate meeting with Bahar Seidova, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan for Culture, Tourism, and Media, the discussions centered on organizing exchange Days of Culture, joint exhibitions, and other cultural events. The resumption of direct flights between Minsk and Ashgabat was also highlighted as an important step toward strengthening people-to-people ties and supporting the growth of the tourism sector.
