Ashgabat Cinema has hosted the gala premiere of two documentaries from Turkish broadcaster TRT Avaz, marking Turkmenistan’s 34th Independence Anniversary and 30 years of neutrality.
The films, “The Wise Turkmen Magtymguly” and “The City of the Future Arkadag,” showcased a compelling fusion of Turkmenistan’s rich historical heritage and its ambitious vision for modern development, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.
The event emphasized the principle of “One Nation, Two States,” highlighting the important role of media in strengthening spiritual and cultural ties between Türkiye and Turkmenistan.
Ugur Sami Gezer, TRT’s representative in Turkmenistan, praised the gala for building “bridges of brotherhood from the screen directly to the audience.” He noted, “These films combine the visionary leadership of Arkadag with the enduring wisdom of Magtymguly. The poet Magtymguly has long been the voice and conscience of the Turkmen people, while Arkadag’s city represents a forward-looking project that blends civilization’s heritage with advanced technologies, placing people at its center.”
Yucel Kılıçkaya, coordinator of TRT Avaz, underlined the channel’s mission as “the voice, spirit, and bridge of friendship for the Turkic world.” He cited Magtymguly’s famous words, “Tribes live as one family...,” as a timeless call for unity and progress.
These documentaries are part of TRT Avaz’s broader “Fatherland Turkmenistan” (Atavatan Türkmenistan) project, which has previously featured acclaimed productions such as “Pearl City Ashgabat,” winner of the best screenplay award at the Oguzkhan Film Festival, along with documentaries on Turkmenistan’s historic and spiritual landmarks including Ancient Merv, Kunyaurgench, and Nedzhmeddin Kubra.
The premiere not only celebrated Turkmenistan’s milestones but also reinforced the enduring cultural and diplomatic ties between Türkiye and Turkmenistan through the power of storytelling and media.
