The Turkmen Youth Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Rasul Klychev, has been awarded the Gold Prize at the 11th World Orchestra Festival in Vienna, Austria.
The event brought together more than 2,500 young musicians from 40 countries, celebrating musical excellence, diversity, and cultural exchange, The Caspian Post reports, citing Turkmen media.
As part of the festival, participants took part in masterclasses led by musicians from the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, professors from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, and other leading figures in Austria’s musical community.
The Turkmen ensemble stood out for its innovative blend of classical masterpieces with traditional Turkmen sounds - a performance that captured the admiration of an international jury composed of renowned conductors and musical experts. Their programs reflected a deep fusion of ancient musical traditions and modern virtuosity.
Performing at iconic venues including Vienna’s famed Golden Hall (Musikverein), the orchestra received rousing ovations for their artistic expression and technical mastery.
At the festival’s closing ceremony, the orchestra was unanimously awarded the Gold Prize in the “Chamber Orchestra” category, and further recognized with three special honors: “Best Conductor,” “Best Classical Music Performance,” and “Outstanding Artistic Excellence.”
This international success is not the first for the Turkmen ensemble - they also won Gold at the previous year’s festival, underscoring the growing global recognition of Turkmenistan’s cultural and artistic contributions.
