Turkmen Students Join UN Forum Preparations in Avaza

More than 300 university students from across Turkmenistan are actively preparing to serve as volunteers at the upcoming Forum on Landlocked Developing Countries, scheduled to take place in Avaza national tourist zone.

Selected from institutions nationwide, these volunteers are undergoing extensive training to perform a variety of roles, including oral interpretation, delegation escort, protocol support, and media coordination, The Caspian Post reports, citing Turkmen media.

Among the volunteers are journalism students, who organizers say are gaining valuable practical experience by applying their theoretical knowledge in a real-world context. They have also been trained to deliver media presentations in multiple languages.

The volunteer preparation program has been conducted throughout the academic year following a structured curriculum. Participants have studied the geography of landlocked countries, sustainable development efforts, international protocol, public speaking, and the proper hosting of foreign guests in line with national traditions.

The Turkmen Ministry of Textile Industry has supplied all volunteers with modern uniforms designed in a national style that reflects the forum’s theme. Special attire has also been provided for TV operators, medical personnel, and other support staff.

Last week, volunteers attended a dedicated training session at the Institute of International Relations under the Foreign Ministry.

Many volunteers have already arrived in Avaza and are actively engaged in organizing on-site activities.

The forum is part of the preparatory events for the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries. Turkmenistan is hosting the event at a high standard, with significant participation from volunteers representing the country’s leading universities.
