Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan Move to Deepen Trade with New Business Council

Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan are moving to strengthen economic cooperation with plans to establish a joint business council by the end of the year, as the two countries seek to expand trade and investment ties.

The initiative was discussed during a meeting between Executive Director of Export and Investment Promotion Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AZPROMO) Yusif Abdullayev, Azat Nazarov, Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, and Yusup Gylychdurdyev, Head of the Ashgabat and Ahal Region Department of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan. The talks took place on the sidelines of the 9th meeting of the Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan Joint Intergovernmental Commission, The Caspian Post reports via AZPROMO.

The participants explored ways to increase bilateral trade, identify products with strong mutual export potential, and deepen cooperation between the business communities of both countries.

They also discussed organizing a Turkmen business mission to Azerbaijan in the near future, accompanied by an exhibition showcasing Turkmen export-oriented products.

In addition, the two sides exchanged views on establishing the Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan Business Council before the end of the year, a move expected to create new opportunities for investment, trade, and long-term business partnerships between the two Caspian nations.
