Eight pupils from Turkmenistan have demonstrated outstanding mathematical skills at the Junior Mental Calculation World Championship, in Bielefeld, Germany.
The international competition brought together more than 100 young participants from 20 countries, including France, Japan, India, Mexico, Egypt, the UAE, and South Africa, The Caspian Post informs via Turkmen media.
According to the “Kämil bilim” educational center, which prepared and accompanied the pupils, the Turkmen team delivered an impressive performance, with several pupils ranking in the top ten worldwide in their age categories.
The championship tasked participants with solving a 30-page problem set covering 23 mathematical topics, plus additional exercises across five more disciplines-all mentally and within a strict two-hour timeframe.
Top Achievements from Turkmenistan
Mekan Nurgeldyyev, a pupil at Specialized Secondary School No. 41 in Turkmenabat and member of the local Kämil bilim branch, secured 4th place in the Under-12 category, scoring over 2,000 points.
Livanur Berdyyeva, from Specialized Secondary School No. 87 in Ashgabat (specializing in foreign languages), ranked 6th in the 12-15 age group, also with a score exceeding 2,000 points.
Patma Gundogdyyeva, a pupil of Specialized Secondary School No. 6 in Ashgabat, received the Championship Cup for “Youngest Participant”. Her school emphasizes studies in exact sciences and English.
A Step Toward Future Success
“This international competition not only gave our pupils the opportunity to test their abilities on a global stage but also helped them gain valuable experience and build friendships with peers from around the world,” said Dovletmyrat Durdymammedov, Deputy Director of the Kämil bilim educational centers. “For many of them, it was their first time participating in such a large-scale event. Scoring more than 2,000 points is a commendable result and a significant step forward.”
