Turkmenistan Enhances Veterinary Expertise with EU-Backed Equipment Delivery

Turkmenistan’s State Veterinary Service, operating under the Ministry of Agriculture, has received a new set of modern training equipment aimed at strengthening veterinary border control and enhancing specialist qualifications.

The delivery was made as part of the European Union-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA 10), The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.

The handover ceremony was attended by officials from the EU Delegation to Turkmenistan and national representatives of the BOMCA program.

Borislav Dimitrov, Program Manager at the EU Delegation, highlighted the strategic value of the initiative in fostering EU-Turkmenistan cooperation, particularly in areas of veterinary modernization and cross-border health security.

“This equipment will play an essential role in building a more resilient and technically advanced veterinary service capable of addressing regional challenges,” he said.

The national coordinator for BOMCA also emphasized the importance of the new equipment in enhancing the country’s technical capabilities and aligning with international standards.

Arslan Soltanmyradov, Head of the Department of International and Scientific Relations at the State Veterinary Service, expressed gratitude to the EU and BOMCA:

“This handover not only enhances the technical capabilities of our institution but also creates new opportunities for training and professional growth. We believe this equipment will significantly improve the quality of education for our specialists.”

The newly equipped training room features advanced tools for practical, hands-on learning, enabling veterinary professionals to stay up-to-date with the latest methodologies. Officials noted that these upgrades are expected to improve the effectiveness of veterinary operations across the country, contribute to better livestock protection, and promote overall public health.

The initiative represents a continued commitment to capacity building under BOMCA 10 and reflects the broader EU strategy to support sustainable development and border security across Central Asia.
