Turkmenistan Launches International Startup Forum 2025, Advancing Its Digital Transformation Agenda

Turkmenistan has taken a major step toward strengthening its innovation landscape.

On November 13, 2025, the UN Development Programme (UNDP), together with the Ministry of Communications, officially launched the International Startup Forum 2025 as part of the Turkmentel-2025 Exhibition and International Conference, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.

The event marks a significant milestone in the country’s push toward a modern, tech-driven economy.

Roadmap for a Modern IT Park Unveiled

The Forum opened with the presentation of a Roadmap for the Modernization of the IT Park, delivered by a UNDP international consultant.

The roadmap outlines a long-term strategy for turning the IT Park into a regional hub for technology and entrepreneurship, assessing Turkmenistan’s startup ecosystem and identifying areas of strength, opportunity, and needed reform. It also highlights key sectors with the highest potential for digital transformation - ICT, agriculture, and energy - where innovation can boost economic growth and sustainable development.

Building Entrepreneurial Capacity: Incubators, Accelerators, and Education

Experts from Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Russia, Estonia, Armenia, and several international organizations shared insights on digital transformation, venture financing, and economic development. Panelists discussed investment strategies, legal frameworks, the role of business angels and venture capital, and best practices for incubators and accelerators. They also highlighted the importance of youth entrepreneurship, gender-inclusive initiatives, and stronger cooperation between universities and the private sector.

UNDP Highlights Digital Innovation as a National Priority

“Digital innovation is no longer optional - it is a strategic driver for inclusive growth, competitiveness, and sustainable development,” said Narine Sahakyan, UNDP Resident Representative in Turkmenistan. She emphasized UNDP’s commitment to helping modernize the IT Park, build a vibrant startup ecosystem, and empower youth and women to participate in the digital economy.

Day Two to Spotlight Startups Across Central Asia

The Forum continues on 14 November at the “Ish Nokady” co-working center in Ashgabat. Entrepreneurs from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan will pitch their ideas, receive expert feedback, and participate in discussions on improving regional collaboration and strengthening the Central Asian startup ecosystem.

Building the Foundation for a Regional Innovation Hub

The International Startup Forum 2025 is shaping into a cornerstone event for Turkmenistan’s tech ambitions. By fostering dialogue, connecting innovators, and promoting cross-border cooperation, it is assisting the country build a sustainable, innovation-driven digital economy and positioning Turkmenistan as an emerging leader in regional tech development.
