Turkmenistan and Russia are deepening their cooperation on regional and global security, following a round of inter-ministerial consultations held in Moscow to address modern security challenges and threats.
The Turkmen delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Gurbanov, while the Russian side was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Dmitry Lyubinsky, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.
The meeting took place as part of the 2025-2026 Cooperation Program signed in June between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
The agenda included exchanging assessments of security threats in the region, with a detailed discussion on the situations in Afghanistan and Central Asia. Diplomats focused on strengthening bilateral security cooperation and joint efforts to counter emerging threats.
Both sides highlighted successful collaboration in international organizations and explored ways to coordinate within multilateral frameworks. They emphasized the importance of sharing best practices and boosting the capacity of state bodies in information security.
The consultations concluded with a commitment to maintain close foreign policy coordination, mutual support, and regular working contacts between Turkmenistan and Russia.
