Turkmen Pupil Wins Third Place at Prestigious International Russian Language Olympiad

Batyr Soltanov, an 11th-grade pupil from Turkmenistan's Ashgabat Specialized School No. 7, has claimed third place at the 21st International Russian Language Olympiad for Foreign Schoolchildren named after V.G. Kostomarov, held annually in Moscow.

Organized by the A.S. Pushkin State Russian Language Institute and the Russkiy Mir Foundation, with support from the Russian Foreign Ministry and International Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (MAPRYAL), the Olympiad is one of the most prestigious competitions promoting Russian as a global language of communication, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.

After a rigorous online selection process, 27 finalists from 22 countries attended the in-person finals at the Pushkin Institute. Batyr excelled in all written and oral exams, demonstrating the high level of Russian language education in Turkmenistan. The participants also attended masterclasses from top experts and a rich cultural program.

During the award ceremony, attended by Advisor to the Russian President Elena Yampolskaya, Pushkin Institute Rector Nikita Gusev, and MAPRYAL President Vladimir Tolstoy, Turkmenistan received an additional honor: Ailar Ataeva was awarded a special diploma in tribute to the 95th anniversary of linguist and Pushkin Institute founder Vitaly Kostomarov.
