Turkmenistan, Serbia Hold Political Consultations in Belgrade

Belgrade has hosted a new round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Serbia, where officials engaged in a constructive exchange on key bilateral issues.

The Turkmen delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Gurbanov, while the Serbian side was headed by State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Damjan Jović, The Caspian Post reports via Turkmen media.

Diplomats emphasized the importance of regular political consultations as an effective coordination mechanism and confirmed the need to enhance the legal framework to further deepen relations.

Promising areas for bilateral economic cooperation were highlighted, including trade, the textile industry, and exports of Turkmen polymers, fertilizers, and agricultural products. The discussion also focused on expanding humanitarian ties, covering culture, education, and tourism.

Both sides praised the positive experience of close cooperation in international forums, particularly at the United Nations, noting mutual support and collaboration on major global initiatives as a sign of high trust and alignment on key international issues.

During his visit, Gurbanov also met with Danilo Jerinić, Director of the “EXPO-2027” International Specialized Exhibition in Belgrade. They discussed organizational preparations for Turkmenistan’s participation in the upcoming event, scheduled May 15 - August 15, 2027, which will provide an opportunity to showcase the country’s achievements in science, technology, and sustainable development.
