On the second day of the press tour in Uzbekistan, Azerbaijani journalists have visited the Ichan-Kala State Museum Reserve in Khiva.
Ichan-Kala is Uzbekistan’s first site to be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, The Caspian Post reports via local media.
This unique open-air museum features over 50 historic structures, including madrasahs (an institution of higher education in Islamic sciences), mosques, minarets (a tall, thin tower on or near a mosque), caravanserais (large guest houses for merchants), and ancient residential quarters dating back to the 16th-19th centuries.
During the visit, journalists explored the inner city’s main attractions, including the Toshhovli Palace, the Ota-Darvaza fortress gates, the Juma Mosque with its remarkable wooden columns, and the Kalta-Minor Madrasa and Minaret.
Museum representatives emphasized their commitment to preserving the historical authenticity of Ichan-Kala while promoting Khiva as a key cultural hub of Uzbekistan, showcasing the rich heritage of the peoples of the East.
