Fiji’s Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has reiterated his country’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations with Uzbekistan, highlighting opportunities for expanded cooperation across multiple sectors.
Rabuka made the remarks during a meeting with Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Fiji, Mukhsinhodja Abdurakhmanov, congratulating him on his appointment and describing it as a significant step toward advancing friendship and partnership between the two nations, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
Calling the Fiji-Uzbekistan relations “multifaceted”, the prime minister underlined his government’s readiness to engage actively through diplomatic, economic, and cultural channels.
He also drew attention to the “Ocean of Peace” initiative, emphasizing its role in promoting regional stability and security. Rabuka said the concept reflects the Pacific’s contribution to global peace-building efforts.
In turn, Abdurakhmonov expressed gratitude for the meeting and reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s intention to strengthen cooperation with Fiji in areas of shared interest.
