Fuel Crisis Forces Uzbekistan Airways to Cut Flights to Russia

Uzbekistan Airways is cutting the number of flights from Uzbekistan to Russia amid a shortage of aviation fuel and rising fuel costs.

The changes will affect several routes to Russia, including selected flights to Moscow and St. Petersburg, The Caspian Post reports via Spot.uz.

“Due to a shortage of aviation fuel and its rising cost, we are forced to reduce flight frequencies on certain routes from cities in Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation,” the carrier said in a statement.

Passengers affected by canceled flights will be offered free rebooking on the next available service at no additional cost. The airline is also providing full refunds without penalties for those who choose not to travel.
