Gold Hits Record High in Uzbekistan

On January 12, the price of a five-gram gold bar in Uzbekistan hit 9 million soums ($744.8), setting a new historical record.

According to the Central Bank, 1 gram of gold now costs 1.8 million soums ($148.96), while a 10-gram bar is priced at 18 million soums ($1,489.61), The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

The surge in gold prices is linked to rising global metal prices. On the New York COMEX exchange, one troy ounce of gold costs $4,500.

In November 2025, Uzbekistan became one of the world’s top three gold buyers, with the Central Bank purchasing 10 tons of the precious metal in a single month.
