Hong Kong, Uzbekistan Set to Deepen Trade and Investment Ties

A high-level delegation from Hong Kong led by Chief Executive John Lee is set to visit Uzbekistan from June 3 to 5, 2026, as part of a major Central Asia outreach mission aimed at boosting trade, investment, and regional connectivity.

The delegation will include representatives from the Hong Kong government, businessmen, and companies operating in trade, finance, logistics, infrastructure, energy, mining, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and automotive manufacturing. Organizers describe it as Hong Kong’s largest-ever business mission to Central Asia, The Caspian Post reports via UzDaily.

The visit is being organized jointly by the Hong Kong SAR government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. For the first time, journalists will also join the mission.

A key focus of the trip will be expanding economic cooperation between Hong Kong and Uzbekistan, promoting cross-border investment opportunities, and strengthening business ties. Officials also aim to position Hong Kong as a gateway for Uzbek companies seeking access to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and broader Chinese markets.

The upcoming visit follows a series of recent high-level exchanges, including Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov’s visit to Hong Kong, during which 15 agreements were signed across multiple sectors of the economy.

During the mission, delegation members are expected to meet with Uzbek government officials, business executives, and major companies to discuss cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure, and finance.

Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Frederick Ma, highlighted Uzbekistan’s rapid economic growth and its increasing importance within China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

Both sides also emphasized Hong Kong’s growing role as an international financial hub connecting Central Asia with global markets through cross-border investment and business partnerships.
