IAEA to Support Uzbekistan in Advancing Nuclear Medicine

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed its readiness to assist Uzbekistan in developing a Strategic “Roadmap” and a National Strategy for the advancement of nuclear medicine.

The agency praised Uzbekistan’s initiative to adopt a comprehensive approach to nuclear medicine, noting it will strengthen the national healthcare system, expand access to oncology services, and promote modern medical technologies, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

IAEA’s support will be provided under existing technical cooperation programs and the Joint Action Plan for 2025-2027. The agency will offer expert guidance and advisory services, ensuring adherence to international safety standards and best practices.

IAEA also expressed interest in deepening collaboration with Uzbekistan in radiotherapy, radiology, radiopharmacy, and broader nuclear medicine development.
