A criminal case has been launched in the city of Kokand, Uzbekistan, after a police officer was stabbed while performing his official duties.
On February 18, a 37-year-old resident of the “Sadokat” neighborhood contacted Senior Lieutenant and prevention inspector Jakhongir Makhmudov, stating that her son was in conflict with family members and refusing to attend school, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
The inspector arrived at the address to assess the situation and conduct a preventive conversation with the teenager.
During the discussion with the mother, the 9th-grade pupil, who was inside the house, suddenly approached the officer from behind and stabbed him in the left lower back with a kitchen knife.
Despite sustaining a serious injury, the police officer managed to restrain the attacker using physical force and called for backup. Additional law enforcement units secured the scene upon arrival, ensuring the safety of all residents in the house.
The wounded inspector was transported to a medical facility and placed in intensive care.
A criminal case has been initiated under Part 2, Article 104 (“b”) of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code. The suspect has been detained, and investigative actions are ongoing.
