Jan Bratu, OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, will make his first official visit to Uzbekistan on November 11-12, 2025.
During his stay, he will meet with high-ranking government officials and media sector representatives to discuss the state of media freedom and press development in the country, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
Following his visit, the OSCE Office will host the 25th Central Asian Media Conference on November 13-14 under the theme: “Ensuring Media Viability for an Informed and Sustainable Society.” The event will take place at the InterContinental Hotel in Tashkent, starting at 10:00 a.m. (GMT+5).
The program includes plenary sessions, interactive workshops, and presentations of new key resources for journalists. Key topics will cover:
Practical strategies for implementing the Media Viability Manifesto
OSCE recommendations for protecting media freedom in the age of Big Tech and artificial intelligence
Journalist safety as a foundation for independent journalism
Audience engagement and media literacy as tools to combat misinformation
The conference aims to strengthen media resilience, professional standards, and public trust in the rapidly evolving information landscape of Central Asia.
