At the conclusion of his official visit to the US, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has met with members of the Uzbek diaspora and scholarship students studying in top American universities under the El-Yurt Umidi Foundation program.
The meeting, held in a warm and informal setting, provided an open platform for discussion on the role of the Uzbek diaspora in advancing the country’s reform agenda - New Uzbekistan, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.
Participants exchanged views on strengthening bilateral ties between Uzbekistan and the US, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, science, and education.
A key focus of the conversation was the introduction of cutting-edge American technologies into Uzbekistan’s priority economic sectors. The president also emphasized the importance of innovation in healthcare, transportation, logistics, and the development of digital marketplaces to enhance domestic economic activity.
During the meeting, the “International Business Marathon for Compatriots” initiative was officially launched. The program aims to establish a dialogue platform connecting young professionals and successful Uzbek entrepreneurs abroad, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.
President Mirziyoyev expressed his deep appreciation to the diaspora for their ongoing support and contributions to the nation’s development. He assured attendees that all ideas and proposals presented during the meeting would be carefully reviewed by the relevant ministries, with the most promising initiatives to be put into practice.
Special recognition was given to students supported by the El-Yurt Umidi Foundation, whose numbers in the United States now exceed 500. The President reiterated the government’s commitment to empowering talented youth and ensuring they have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills for the benefit of Uzbekistan. He extended his best wishes for their continued academic and professional success.
In turn, representatives of the diaspora thanked the president for his sustained attention to the Uzbek community abroad. They praised the government’s efforts to engage overseas citizens and pledged to deepen their involvement in the country’s ongoing transformation and future progress.
