Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has reviewed a major initiative focused on adopting advanced international practices and cutting-edge technologies in Uzbekistan’s geological sector.
During the presentation, the President emphasized that modernizing the national geological system and expanding the country’s mineral resource base remain top priorities, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
The goal: to bring Uzbekistan’s geology to world-class scientific and technological standards.
Artificial intelligence (AI) and digital solutions are set to play a crucial role. Officials noted that global experience shows AI can help discover new mineral deposits-even in remote areas.
As part of this effort, Uzbekistan plans to establish a Center of Competence in partnership with international organizations, including the prestigious Colorado School of Mines (USA) - one of the world’s top institutions in mining engineering.
The Center will focus on:
Integrating AI and digital technologies into geological research,
Conducting airborne geophysical surveys,
Accelerating data-driven identification of new mineral deposits, and
Promoting international cooperation in mining and geology.
President Mirziyoyev approved the proposals and instructed relevant agencies to speed up the implementation of modern exploration technologies and expand global partnerships in the sector.
