Uzbekistan, UN Sign 2026–2030 Sustainable Development Cooperation Program

Uzbekistan and the United Nations have formally signed a cooperation program on sustainable development for 2026-2030.

The signing took place during an event in Tashkent marking the 80th anniversary of the UN, The Caspian Post reports, citing the UN website.

Officials noted that Uzbekistan’s collaboration with the UN has helped the country climb 19 positions in the global ranking for progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The agreement follows a high-level meeting in September between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and UN Secretary-General António Guterres on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, where both leaders agreed on adopting the 2026-2030 UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Program. The program is set to steer the implementation of joint projects aimed at achieving the SDGs in Uzbekistan.
