An inspiring masterclass featuring renowned Russian tennis player, former world No. 1, and Grand Slam finalist Dinara Safina has been held at the Olympic Village in Uzbekistan's Tashkent city.
The event was part of the ITF W15 Tashkent women’s international tournament, held from October 20 to 26 under the auspices of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and the Tennis Federation of Uzbekistan, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
Dozens of young athletes, their coaches, and tennis enthusiasts attended the session, gaining the unique opportunity to train under a world tennis legend, ask questions, and receive personal guidance.
During the masterclass, Safina shared valuable insights on technique, mental preparation, and discipline, stressing that success in sports requires passion, dedication, and continuous self-improvement.
After the training, a press conference, photo session, and autograph signing allowed the champion to interact with journalists and young players.
“The main thing is to enjoy every time you step onto the court. It’s not just about winning, but about growing and believing in yourself. I see in the eyes of Uzbek children the same passion I had when I first started playing,” said Dinara Safina.
The Tennis Federation of Uzbekistan continues actively promoting women’s tennis, creating opportunities for young female athletes and boosting public interest in the sport.
The hosting of the ITF W15 Tashkent tournament and Safina’s visit marked an important step in developing women’s tennis and strengthening international sporting cooperation. The tournament brought together professional players from multiple countries, providing a platform for experience exchange and inspiration.
Special attention was given to 15-year-old Alexandra Barmicheva from Uzbekistan, the youngest participant, symbolizing generational continuity and the rising potential of Uzbek tennis.
“For us, Dinara Safina’s visit is more than just a sporting event - it’s a source of inspiration for a new wave of young female players. We will continue to invite leading international athletes to Uzbekistan so that the younger generation can learn from the best and aspire to the heights of world sport,” stated the Tennis Federation of Uzbekistan.
