US Diplomats to Visit Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan to Strengthen Regional Cooperation

US Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs Sergio Gor and Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau will visit Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan from October 26 to 30 to discuss key areas of cooperation.

During the visit, the two diplomats are expected to meet with senior government officials in both countries to discuss key areas of cooperation, including economic development, regional security, and the deepening of bilateral relations, The Caspian Post reports via the US Department of State.

In its statement, Washington reaffirmed its commitment to expanding engagement with the nations of Central Asia, highlighting efforts to boost trade, investment, and sustainable economic growth across the region.

A central theme of the visit will be the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the C5+1 diplomatic platform - a dialogue format that brings together the United States and the five Central Asian states. The US underscored the platform’s continued importance in advancing regional stability, connectivity, and long-term collaboration.

Adding personal significance to the trip, Special Envoy Sergio Gor - born Sergey Gorokhovsky in Tashkent in 1986 - has roots in the region, marking a symbolic connection as he returns in an official diplomatic capacity.
