Tashkent City Hokimiyat hosted a meeting between the city Hokim, Shavkat Umurzakov, and the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Member of the Parliament of Tanzania, Tulia Ackson, who visited Tashkent as part of the 150th IPU Assembly.
At the meeting, Shavkat Umurzakov stressed that Uzbekistan focuses on strengthening international relations, including relations with the countries of the African continent, The Caspian Post reports citing Uzbek media. The policy of openness conducted under the leadership of the Head of state expands international cooperation.
Tulia Ackson highly appreciated the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan in social policy, urban infrastructure, and the development of civil society institutions. The importance of the Mahalla Institute as a unique example of human value and care for it was emphasized.
The parties discussed prospects for establishing cooperative ties between Tashkent and the cities of Tanzania and opportunities for cooperation in humanitarian aid, education, tourism, and sustainable urban development.
