The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Russia's Novosibirsk city has placed under close diplomatic watch a reported assault involving a teenager of Asian appearance, following a disturbing incident that occurred in the city center on September 30.
According to preliminary information, a group of teenagers physically attacked a minor on Lenin Street, allegedly shouting ethnic slurs during the assault. Disturbingly, the victim was reportedly forced to kneel and apologize for his ethnic background, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Novosibirsk Region has confirmed that an investigation is underway. Authorities are working to establish the identities of the attackers and clarify the nationality and citizenship of the victim.
In response, the Uzbek Consulate has officially contacted local law enforcement via diplomatic channels, requesting full details about the case. The mission has also called on Russian authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
The Consulate has appealed to media outlets to refrain from publishing unverified or speculative information until official findings are made public.
In an official statement, the diplomatic mission emphasized that it is keeping the matter under strict supervision and will continue to monitor developments closely to ensure justice is delivered.
