Uzbek, Irish Diplomats Connect to Advance Political and Economic Ties

Diplomats from the Embassy of Uzbekistan have held a virtual meeting with Colm McGarvey, Director of the European Neighbourhood Engagement Department at Ireland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, to discuss the current state and future prospects of Uzbekistan-Ireland relations and explore opportunities to expand cooperation across various sectors.

The Uzbek side presented an overview of the country’s ongoing political and socio-economic reforms under the New Uzbekistan initiative, highlighting the government’s commitment to democratic development, transparency, and modernization, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.

Discussions centered on enhancing bilateral political dialogue, increasing collaboration within international organizations, and expanding inter-parliamentary engagement. Both sides also stressed the importance of diversifying trade, investment, and economic ties.

In addition to political and economic matters, the diplomats discussed the potential for deepening cultural and humanitarian cooperation, particularly in the areas of education and academic exchange.

At the close of the meeting, both parties agreed to maintain regular diplomatic contact and to work on concrete proposals aimed at advancing mutual interests and strengthening ties between Uzbekistan and Ireland.
