At the 12th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) held in Gabala, Azerbaijan, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has called for the creation of an Economic Cooperation Council within the organization.
President Mirziyoyev highlighted the broad scope of collaboration already taking place among OTS members, noting that cooperation currently spans 35 different sectors, The Caspian Post informs via local media.
“Strengthening the organization remains our primary goal and task,” he said, emphasizing the importance of quick action on a strategic friendship and cooperation agreement among Turkic states.
He further stressed the need for a new development strategy extending through 2030 to deepen multilateral ties and create new economic opportunities within the Turkic world.
“Now is the time to establish an Economic Cooperation Council under the OTS framework,” President Mirziyoyev declared, adding that Uzbekistan is ready to host the council’s office in its capital, Tashkent.
