Uzbek President Set for Brussels Visit Ahead of Major EU–Central Asia Investment Forum

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will pay an official visit to Brussels on October 24, where he will also discuss preparations for the upcoming EU-Central Asia Investment Forum scheduled to take place in Tashkent this November.

The visit is expected to culminate in the signing of a landmark Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA) between Uzbekistan and the EU - a milestone that will significantly deepen bilateral ties across multiple sectors, The Caspian Post informs via Uzbek media.

The agreement is seen as a key step toward strengthening political, economic, and security cooperation, while promoting sustainable development.

The EPCA will define strategic priorities for long-term engagement in five core areas:

Political dialogue

Economic and trade relations

Security cooperation

Governance and institutional reform

Sustainable development

The agreement will also formalize shared commitments to support Uzbekistan’s reform agenda, drive economic modernization, and enhance international collaboration.

In a recent message marking Uzbekistan’s Independence Day, European Council President António Costa expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming meeting with President Mirziyoyev in Brussels, describing the anticipated signing of the EPCA as a turning point in EU-Uzbekistan relations.
