CIS Security Chiefs Convene in Uzbekistan's Samarkand to Tackle Cross-Border Threats

The 57th session of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) has convened in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, bringing together senior security officials from member states to strengthen joint strategies for tackling a broad spectrum of cross-border threats.

Head of Azerbaijan’s State Security Service, Colonel‑General Ali Naghiyev participated in the meeting, The Caspian Post reports via the State Security Service.

The gathering focused on reinforcing collaborative strategies to counter a broad spectrum of transnational threats-including international terrorism, organized crime, drug trafficking, cybercrime, information security vulnerabilities, extremism, and radicalism. Delegates emphasized the urgent need for strengthened cooperation in these areas to safeguard regional stability.

Aside from tactical discussions, participants reviewed strategic priorities and joint action plans to bolster the collective security framework of CIS member states. Key themes included enhanced intelligence sharing, tighter coordination between security agencies, and the development of more robust legal and institutional mechanisms.
