Designed to enhance mutual trust and ensure collective security, the concept promotes equal and friendly relations among member states, as well as cooperation with other nations and international organizations. The initiative aims to support international peace, regional stability, and the secure development of every CIS country.

Set by the CIS Heads of State Council, the long-term objectives outlined in the concept will guide military collaboration over the next five years. The document stresses improved coordination and communication between defense ministries, general staffs, military command structures, and specialized military personnel through joint activities.

Key focus areas include the development of integrated military systems within national armed forces. This includes plans for a unified air defense system, joint communications networks, and standardized systems for monitoring and assessing radiological, chemical, and biological threats. Furthermore, a unified radar identification system and a comprehensive military geographic information system are slated for implementation.

These measures are expected to significantly boost the combat readiness and interoperability of member states’ armed forces, reinforcing the depth of military cooperation across the region.

In a related development, CIS member states have already adopted a comprehensive program addressing counter-terrorism and extremism, underscoring the bloc’s ongoing commitment to enhancing regional security.
