Uzbek Workers Depart for Türkiye’s Akkuyu Nuclear Project

Uzbekistan has begun sending certified workers to take part in one of Türkiye’s largest energy projects.

A group of 200 Uzbek citizens has officially started work at the construction site of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

The deployment was organized under the “One Region - One Major Employer” initiative. The Namangan regional branch of the agency signed a cooperation agreement with ATAMER Holding to facilitate structured and legal labor migration.

Skilled Workforce in High Demand

In a short period of time, authorities coordinated the recruitment, travel, and job placement of 200 certified professionals - including electricians, welders, and concrete workers. The program emphasizes transparent employment conditions and regulated overseas work opportunities for Uzbek citizens.

Officials say the initiative aims to strengthen partnerships with leading international employers while ensuring that Uzbek specialists are employed legally and safely abroad.

Up to 1,500 Workers Planned

Earlier announcements revealed that Uzbekistan plans to send up to 1,500 certified specialists by the end of the year to contribute to the construction of Türkiye’s first nuclear power facility.

As Akkuyu moves closer to completion, Uzbek professionals are becoming part of a landmark energy project that could reshape regional cooperation in the nuclear sector - while also opening new pathways for organized labor migration.
