Uzbekistan and Afghanistan are planning a major boost in pharmaceutical trade, targeting a bilateral turnover of $500 million.
Abdulla Azizov, Director of Uzbekistan’s Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency, met with Afghanistan’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, Nooruddin Azizi, to discuss expanding cooperation between the two countries, The Caspian Post reports via Uzbek media.
During the talks, both sides highlighted the high quality and competitiveness of Uzbek pharmaceutical products. To reach the $500 million target, they proposed creating a joint operational working group. Key focus areas include developing collaboration based on international GDP (Good Distribution Practice) standards and establishing direct connections with major distributors in the Afghan market.
Officials also emphasized forming a technical working group, increasing information exchange, and preparing for the signing of bilateral cooperation agreements in the near future.
