Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan Expand and Diversify Investment Ties

Akhror Burkhanov, adviser to Uzbekistan’s foreign minister and spokesman for the foreign ministry, has said that Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan are stepping up and diversifying investment cooperation, working on new joint projects across several priority sectors.

Burkhanov said the two countries are consistently expanding their investment partnership. Talks are currently underway on new projects in energy, industrial cooperation, transport and logistics, agriculture, as well as green energy and the digital economy, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

“Special attention is being paid to joint ventures, production localization, and expanding mutual private-sector investment,” the diplomat noted. He added that the implementation of these initiatives will help grow the overall project portfolio and give a fresh boost to bilateral economic cooperation.

Burkhanov also noted that Uzbekistan remains interested in deepening cooperation with Azerbaijan in the energy sector, including possible participation in promising oil and gas projects. Issues related to potential cooperation on the Shah Deniz field and other major Caspian projects are currently being reviewed by relevant agencies and companies in both countries.

He stressed that any future cooperation will be guided by economic feasibility, mutual benefit, and alignment with the long-term energy development strategies of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
